Hi. Are you using the flatpak?

I don't think so. In Ubuntu, flatpacks are called snaps, but in the snap folder there are nothing about birdfont.
On the contrary, I remember to have installed birdfont using the package manager synaptic.
Forgive my bad English and my insecure answer (I'm not a developer).

Hi. You can run both flatpak and snaps on Ubuntu, Birdfont has a flatpak but no snap. I will try to reproduce this problem.

Please try the Flatpack package and let me know if it works for you. Instructions on how to use it is available at the download page.

Tested. The flatpak version works fine.

Users could avoid some troubles during the installation process of the flatpak version if more detailed instructions were provided.
1. The user has to be in the sudoers list and the sudo command must be used.
2. The downloaded flatpak has to be saved into the home folder of the user
So, in my opinion, this is the list of command to install Birdfont, flatpak version:
1. sudo flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
2. sudo flatpak install flathub org.gnome.Platform/x86_64/3.32
3. download birdfont-3.30.0-free.flatpak (https://birdfont.org/download/birdfont-3.30.0-free.flatpak) and save it in the user's home
4. flatpak install birdfont-3.30.0-free.flatpak
BirdFont can be launched by the Applications applet. Obviously, this is for Ubuntu users.

I hope this can be useful for you and for your users. If not, I'm sorry for the time you've wasted with me.
One last note: the official name is Birdfont or BirdFont. Both are used...

Thank you for the instructions. Should I put them on the download page?

I have update the info to the download page. Thank you for bringing my attention to this. The correct capitalization is probably Birdfont but I will keep the other name in the source code as it is right now in order to not break anything.
