Summary0000093: Can't figure out how to set glyph width
DescriptionI've been using the command line to grab a bunch of SVGs I've made with Inkscape and generate a .bf font, as shown in the docs. This works wonderfully. However, I can't figure out how to tweak the width of each glyph - they're all the same width. I had assumed that the width of the SVG canvas/page would be used, but sadly not.

I've tried dragging various guidelines and exploring the toolbox, but I can't find anything that looks like it does the job.

Is this a missing feature, or have I just overlooked something?

Many thanks - BirdFont is an otherwise lovely tool to use.
Steps To ReproduceCreate some SVGs with Inkscape, with varying page widths.
Generate a bf font from them using the CLI: birdfont-import typeface.bf a.svg b.svg c.svg (etc)
Check the widths of glyphs - they will all be the same, with no visible way of altering individual glyph widths.

You can set the width of each glyph in the spacing tab or in the glyph view. Click on the small triangle at the bottom of the screen and move the guide.

Found it! Thanks so much for the speedy response. I donated some small funds (under my personal email address) which I hope help a little.

I couldn't find anything about setting the glyph width in the tutorials - might be worth adding :)

Thinking about it, it might be a nice feature to infer the glyph width from the SVG canvas width, to improve the "out of the box" spacing of a generated font. Going through and adjusting the widths is quick and easy now I know how though.

I might add a command line option that sets the glyph width to the canvas width. Thank you for the donation and for the idea.
